The video-performance depicts the cleaning of the body of Christ as depicted in the mosaic of St Gertrude’s Church. The transformation of the church from a sacred site into a functional space prompts the artist to question our contemporary relationship with Christianity. Drawing on the words of Nietzsche and the victims of the Mafia in his native region, the artist stages the removal of blood from a murdered body, a body with which we have never truly come to terms. The cleansing thus becomes an allegory of justice denied and, at the same time, an attempt to reawaken a spiritual presence in a world dominated by productivity.

Die Videoperformance zeigt die Reinigung des Leibes Christi, wie sie im Mosaik der St.-Gertrud-Kirche dargestellt ist. Die Verwandlung der Kirche von einem heiligen Ort in einen funktionalen Raum veranlasst den Künstler, unser heutiges Verhältnis zum Christentum zu hinterfragen. Ausgehend von den Worten Nietzsches und den Opfern der Mafia in seiner Heimatregion inszeniert der Künstler die Entfernung von Blut aus einem ermordeten Körper – einem Körper, mit dem wir uns nie wirklich abgefunden haben. Die Reinigung wird so zu einer Allegorie auf verweigerte Gerechtigkeit und zugleich zu einem Versuch, eine spirituelle Präsenz in einer von Produktivität dominierten Welt wieder zu wecken.
